Oysters are remarkable ecosystem engineers — a single oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day. The reef will improve water quality, create habitat for hundreds of species, and help protect the coastline from erosion.
"This project could provide a model for marine restoration across the continent," said a project leader.
