In a feat that once seemed improbable, the green turtle has come off the 'endangered' list following a decades-long mission to save the species, Positive News reported. The reclassification represents one of the greatest conservation success stories of recent years.
The recovery was made possible through a combination of beach protection programs, anti-poaching enforcement, international cooperation, and community education. Nesting sites across the tropics have seen dramatic increases in turtle populations over the past two decades.
